And Even More Friendships!

Missy Barnes was working as a secretary at a local hospital 5 years ago when she became close with a patient who had Down Syndrome.

“I became interested in working with people with disabilities, but wasn’t sure how to get into the field,” says Missy.

That is when Missy saw an ad for RMS which has resulted in a rewarding career.

“When someone overcomes an issue, the smile on their face is rewarding because you know they’re proud of themselves,” notes Missy.

Missy works with individuals in both Allen and Auglaize Counties.

She suggests anyone interested in working as a Direct Support Professional contact their local County Board to learn more about the providers offering services in that county.

Christi, who is pictured with Missy, says Missy helps her make healthy choices.

She also says she likes when Missy winks at her when she’s being ornery.

Christi and Missy enjoy going to Starbucks, shopping, making crafts, reading books, going to the park and going bowling with friends.

Thank you, Missy, for all you do as a Direct Support Professional each and every day!
