Kettler Finds Rewarding Second Career

Julie Kettler began working at Auglaize Industries six years ago after her family sold their dairy cows.

Julie says she was aware of Auglaize Industries in New Bremen, but didn’t know much about the field of developmental disabilities.

She decided to give it a try and found that she enjoys her co-workers and the people they serve.

“We have fun every day,” says Julie. “We laugh every day.”

Julie and John work on a picture collage about fire fighters. This is important to John, who serves as an honorary fire fighter with the Spencerville FD.

Julie learned quickly not to underestimate people with disabilites. “The most interesting thing I’ve realized is how much they know,” she notes.

She says it is fun to help people reach their goals and enjoys getting people involved in their communities through activities like swimming, playing putt putt golf and going out to eat.

When asked about Julie, John smiled and said, “She’s really nice… She’s my friend.”

We appreciate what you do, Julie, and hope you continue to have fun doing it!
